Best Summer Road Trip Ideas & Tips
The summer months are a great time for a road trip. Pack the family in the car and head off to parks, museums, festivals and other Ontario happenings and destinations.
We search summer road trips in Ontario and there is no shortage of places to go and things to do. Get away from it all at a park, hike, picnic, explore. Or choose a place in one of our cities where you can go to a concert, visit a museum, attend a community festival.
But before you head out, we have gathered a few tips to help ensure your family’s outing is successful, fun and safe.
- Select your destination(s) and make sure it offers fun for everyone on the trip. Make sure the trip fits your budget and map out your route. Make sure your vehicle is road-trip ready.
- If you are going for several days, you may want to book hotels or motels ahead of time. more planning can mean more fun and less stress.
- Will you be on the road for hours reaching your destination or between destinations? If yes, plan some activities to keep children busy. Maybe they want to listen to music or watch a movie.
- Packing crayons and a colouring book, books to read, favorite toys or other items is always a good idea. Many adults will remember counting telephone poles or cars or something else to help pass the miles and the hours. Singing some favorite songs is also a fun family activity while driving.
- Snack are always a hit. Pack some healthy snacks in a cooler. Fruit, veggies, granola bars, juice drinks, water and other goodies can be much enjoyed by everyone while on the road.
If you are going to be outdoors, remember run protection – wearing hats and sunscreen are always a good idea.
