Ontario law requires every motorist to have basic car insurance with certain coverages, no matter what type of vehicle you drive. Mandatory coverages include:
Financial protection if a third party is harmed or property damaged; Morison recommends a minimum of $2M liability
Income replacement, attendant care, medical and rehabilitation costs; optional to increase
Covers your vehicle and contents when not at fault; claim with your own insurer
Protects against hit-and-run or uninsured driver; covers medical and repair costs
Additional coverages can be added to protect your Hyundai beyond the mandatory minimums:
Collision or Upset Coverage
Payment for loss when insured automobile collides with another object or tips over
Comprehensive Coverage
Pays for losses not covered by collision; includes specified perils, missiles, vandalism, falling and flying objects
All-Perils Coverage
Combines collision/upset and comprehensive, plus theft protection (household member or employee steals insured Hyundai)
Loss of Vehicle Coverage
Rental endorsement while insured vehicle is out of use due to physical damage claim
Liability for Damage to Non-Owned Vehicles
Coverage for liability arising from care, control, or custody of non-owned automobile (e.g., rental car)
Removing Depreciation Deduction Coverage
Waives depreciation for original owner or lessee within specified period (average 24 months, some up to 5 years)

What Is Hyundai Insurance?
Hyundai insurance is a form of car insurance coverage that protects Hyundai owners from the financial risks associated with owning and driving a car. While we trust that you are taking every reasonable precaution that you can while driving, it's always possible that something will happen outside of your control. In such situations, Hyundai insurance will provide financial protection for covered losses you may experience, including those for physical injury to yourself or others, damage to the car itself, and liability charges that you are held responsible for. This level of protection can provide you with peace of mind that no matter what happens, you won't have your finances crippled by a single incident.
What Levels Of Protection Are Offered For Hyundai Insurance In Ontario?
There are three levels of Hyundai insurance in Ontario: specified perils, comprehensive coverage and all-perils coverage. Each of these three levels of coverage comes with its own pros and cons. It is up to you to decide which level is right for you, as your level of coverage is a very personal matter.
Specified perils coverage is the most economical form of Hyundai insurance available in Ontario. The downside of choosing specified perils coverage is that despite the low insurance rates, you have the least protection possible, and as a result, it is not always recommended. It only protects against incidents mentioned explicitly within the policy itself, most of which will pertain to collisions with objects, including other vehicles. However, in most cases, very few other items will be covered, meaning that despite offering the lowest rates, it is still not seen as getting a good bang for your buck, as there is a high chance you will not be covered in the case of an expensive claim.
Comprehensive coverage provides a good balance between the level of coverage offered and the impact it has on your wallet. It acts as a middle ground between specified perils and all-perils coverage, making it a good option for those who want good coverage without spending a lot of money. It covers everything specified perils does, plus some commonly added perils, such as fire, vandalism, weather, theft, and collisions with wildlife.
All-perils coverage provides more protection than both comprehensive coverage and specified-perils coverage. In fact, it covers everything that both of these types of protection covers and more. However, unlike the name suggests, it does not cover all possible perils one could face. Each of the perils that are not covered will be explicitly named in the policy itself.
Which Factors Impact The Cost Of Hyundai Insurance?
Many factors affect the price of Hyundai insurance, including the insured's age, the exact Hyundai model, the vehicle's repair costs, the vehicle's age, and the insured's driving record, the location the insured lives in, the claims record of the insured, the driving record and claims record of all secondary drivers, if there are any, and the level of coverage that is requested by the insured.
Please note that these are not the only factors involved in determining Hyundai insurance costs. There is no set formula to determine which factors will have what impact, as each insurance provider weighs each of these factors differently, meaning you will almost certainly get a different quote from each insurance company.
Who Needs Hyundai Insurance In Ontario?
Anybody who owns a Hyundai in Ontario needs Hyundai insurance. The level of protection it provides is irreplaceable due to the many situations it can protect you from and the massive amount of money it could save you. Car insurance covers damage to the car itself, potential liability claims, and injuries to yourself or others — costs that can often exceed damage to the vehicle alone.
Is Hyundai Insurance Mandatory In Ontario?
Yes, auto insurance is legally mandatory for anyone in Ontario who owns and operates a vehicle. The penalties for driving without auto insurance can easily escalate to tens of thousands of dollars.
Are There Other Ways To Lower My Hyundai Insurance Quote?
Keep claims record clean by not making a claim on small losses; increase your deductible; drive more cautiously to avoid the need to make a claim; maintain a clean driving record.
